President's Message
This rainy season was followed by extreme heat day after day, but here at TAC members are enjoying the pool as well as the dining/activities within the building. We are finishing off the last summer at the Takanawa facility and my thoughts race with imagination of next year's luxurious summer months at our brand new Club. The Bon Odori, which took place last Saturday, August 7, marked the finale of the Takanawa summer and Tokyo has once again entered the Obon period (a Buddhist event of praying for the repose of the souls of one's ancestors and it is a time when many people take their summer breaks to make the trips out of Tokyo back to their hometowns) when we are freed of traffic in our neighborhoods.
My daily trips to the Club have become a comfortable routine. This summer, the Board met more often than the usual vacation periods as we are tackling the most challenging agenda: Club finances. The Transition Working Group (TWG) has been active with its newly appointed members and is working in coordination with the Board to ensure a secure financial situation as we move back to Azabudai.
I welcome back the families who are returning, as well as those who are getting initiated with the Club, and I look forward to our encounters at the Club.
Please enjoy the rest of the summer at TAC.

Tidbits from the New TAC Project
With the Obon break this week, construction firm Takenaka is focused on the final drive to do all of the interiors by early November and has increased the number of workers onsite by 100 in the last month to just less than 500; this is set to increase further. The scaffolding in the new Sky Pool has been removed to reveal a fantastic space for all our Members, while the scaffolding around the building will soon start to be removed and be slowly revealed to everyone.
The next few months will be the busiest for the construction team, as they work to complete the exterior facades and interior fittings before the period of major inspection starts in early November. The Board of Governors and TAC's many committees are actively preparing for the opening of the new building, which will mark not only the end of our three-year stay in Takanawa, but also 13 years since we started this historic project.
