この度、社団法人東京アメリカンクラブでは2009年英文エッセイコンテストを開催する運びとなりました。第3回となる今回のコンテストでは、これまでの殻を破り、斬新かつ楽しさを交えたアプローチを試みました。「いいから黙って書いて！」と題し、純粋に「書くこと」への挑戦を投げかけています。
スポーツや料理、ファッションにいたるまで、今や日本各地で見られる伝統と流行の活気あふれる国際交流。それでは自分が影響を受けた外国文化とは何か-。東京都内の全高校の生徒の皆さん、黙ってペンを手に取り思いを書き綴るこの、コンテストにぜひご参加ください。50万円の大学給付奨学金など、未来への扉を開くきっかけをご用意しています。
今年は規模を拡大して開催
毎年恒例となったこのコンテストはお蔭様で注目度が急増し、今年は規模を拡大して開催します。参加資格対象者は東京都内在学の日本の高校2年生と3年生で、アメリカ文化が自身に与えた影響の一例に関するテーマをもとに、500語～750語の英文エッセイをご提出いただきます。上位2名には、進学予定先大学への奨学金50万円を給付し、また最終選考に残った5名とその家族及び学校代表者は、東京アメリカンクラブ(於：港区高輪)での特別ディナー＆授賞式にご招待いたします。応募者全員への参加賞もご用意しております。

English Essay Contest 2009
The 2009 English Essay Contest in now closed, please check back again for information on future contests.
In 2009, the Club has thrown out standard conventions and gone with a fresh, fun approach, titled "Shut Up and Write," for the third annual contest. As Tokyo and the rest of the nation embraces a vibrant mingling of international trends and traditions, from sports to cuisine to fashion, we've encouraged studentsof selected Tokyo Schools to stop talking, pick up their pens and explore the global influences on their lives. The move could open new doors to their future with a ¥500,000 university scholarship.
Expanded this year due to its fast-growing popularity.
Second- and third-year Japanese high school students across Tokyo are now eligible to write a 500- to 750-word essay on a topic related to one way American culture has influenced their lives. Two top winners will receive a ¥500,000 scholarship to the universities of their choice and five finalists will be invited to attend a special dinner and awards ceremony with representatives from their schools at the Club in Takanawa. All entrants will earn a prize.
