2010 Spring Enrichment Classes
Kids can get involved in a range of fun activities and programs, from sports leagues and martial arts to dance and music classes. These unique offerings are designed to keep enthusiastic young Members healthy and engaged, developing skills and experiences that will benefit them now and later in life.
Students can attend the first class on a trial basis before deciding whether to continue with the course (payment for the trial class is required).

Baseball League (Spring)
RegistrationThe season for all spring leagues starts March 2010. Registration is now open. Download the details and the sign-up sheet at the top of the page. The spring baseball program, which is offered to all children between the ages of 8 and 15, consists of two leagues: Junior ( grades 3–5) and Senior (grades 6–8). Both leagues are held every Sunday at the main field of the American School in Japan (ASIJ)
This program is designed to develop fundamental baseball skills and give participants an opportunity to use and further develop those skills in competitive games. Fun is an important element of the program.
Each player will receive a full uniform(jersey, pants and cap) and a professionally procuded CD of sports photos.
Junior League (Coed, grades 3–5)
Players have a blast while developing coordination and teamwork skills in this exciting, kid pitch league. Practices and games are held at the American School in Japan.

Basketball League (Winter)
This unique basketball program is designed for all players to have a positive experience and plenty of fun, making "FUNdamentals" a vital part of each practice along with a variety of game play (3-on-3, 4-on-4, etc.). Head Coach Dan Weiss, a former Japanese professional league player, resumes the main coaching duties for the upcoming season for all programs held at Nishimachi and Coach Jeff Novosel returns to guide the Pee Wee players.The season for all winter leagues starts January 2010. Pee Wee
This fun introductory league lets young players get used to handling the ball, moving on the court and targeting the basket. Practices are held at the Club.
Cadets
Kids develop basic offensive and defensive skills using drills, scrimmages and other techniques. Practices are held at Nishimachi School.
Juniors
Kids hone their skills on the court using drills, scrimmages and other techniques. Practices are held at Nishimachi School.
Seniors
This energizing league builds teamwork, dexterity and coordination through a variety of drills, scrimmages and matches. Practices are held at Nishimachi School.
Girls
Players enjoy their court time as they perfect their shots, practice defensive coverage and develop teamwork and other skills. Practices are held at Nishimachi School.

Boy Scouts
The Boy Scouts of America Troop 51 is sponsored by the Tokyo American Club and welcomes boys ages 11 to 18 interested in exploring outdoor Japan. Adventure, service, leadership and fun are themes of the troop's activities with monthly outings that include hiking, beach camping, backpacking, canoeing in the Japan Alps, building snow caves and climbing Mt Fuji.Weekly Meeting

Creative Kids Club
Color Laboratory
Budding painters can create their own masterpieces using Japanese watercolors and acrylics. Students will learn advanced techniques such as color mixing, brush techniques, color concepts and composition. Each aspiring young artist will receive a sketchbook and watercolor set.

Learning Art from the Masters
This informative, hands-on class encourages creativity and helps young art lovers shape their ideas. In each session, students will be introduced to a great artist and his or her works, discuss the mediums and techniques used and experiment with those ideas in the classroom.

Judo
Judo (literally “the way of gentleness’) is a unique martial art established in 1882 as a safer distillation of Jiu-jitsu, a method of unarmed combat among samurai warriors. Techniques include throwing, hold downs and, as proficiency progresses, choking and joint locking. Children will relish micro-games that provide a competitive arena for them to demonstrate what they've learnt, although effort, positive peer interaction and teamwork are the true fundamentals of this dynamic program.

Girls'
